'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It seems the vultures are circling again

Plenty of stories in the morning papers that Chelsea, in particular their head scout Frank Arnesen, have been watching Rovers Phil Jones as they step up their interest in what the Mirror describe as 'the most wanted English youngster in football'.

Phil has gloriously ignored the myth of second season syndrome in this campaign and has even been doing a sterling job in defensive midfield as opposed to his natural centre half slot.

His performances though, have alerted the cash cows and todays rumours are not the first time Jonesy has been the centre of attention.

What has escaped the attention of the gossipers however is that the last time all these rumours started Jones responded by signing a five year deal at Blackburn.

Also missing from the stories is the fact that Phil is a hardcore Blackburn fan from his boyhood days, so his departure would be far from a foregone conclusion if the subject became serious.

Spurs, Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea have now registered an interest in our young boy in the last year... but they are going to have to work hard if they want to get near one of the best English youngsters around.

It seems that we are going to have to put up with these rumours for a long while!!! Shame the papers don't take into account the side of the so called "smaller" club as well.

Phil Jones is blue and white he hates burnley!

I h8 to say this but i think its inevitable we will lose Phil, a player of his calibre is gonna be hard to hold onto even if he is blue n white thru n thru. Plus side would be that the price he'd go for would surely be able to help us buy an actual goalscorer.

Someone shoot those circling vultures. Or at least tell them to sod off....lol
fransavarese
He seems like a well grounded lad. I think as long as we can afford not to sell him he'll stick around... Hopefully.
ITSALLROVER
let's hope the new owner would have enough to hold onto him

Its obvious are better players will be linked with the bigger c;lubs and Phil is no different, If we get a good price and reinvest the cash in new players it may not be the worse news ever, I was lead to believe he was a North End fan and was from Leyland, which would throw out the ardent Rovers fan suggestion
glen9mullan
I have been told he is a Rover Glen... where did you hear that from??
Mikey Delap
Heard it from a few people Mikey, I work in Leyland and he is quite big news in that particualr area, Was told ages ago, but never thought much off it, but tbh i have never read an article or weard an interview were Jones say's he is a rovers fan, only the fact he is local to the area, i.e Leyland
