'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Robbo won't rule out England return

England real number one and Blackburn's current number one Paul Robinson has set tongues a wagging this morning by refusing to rule out a return to the England set up - if the circumstances are right.

Robbo quit the England fold as he felt that he was undervalued by Fabio Capello and given his recent form over the last 12 months he most certainly has a point.

Robinson told talkSPORT - 'It was difficult because as a goalkeeper if you are not in the team or not close to the team you really have got no chance of playing.

'A manager likes to get a number one goalkeeper and settle with him for however long and it's slightly different for an outfield player.

'I thought at the age of 30, 31 years old it was time for me (to retire).

'I have done a lot of travelling with the England team and I was going to be making the numbers up in training as third or fourth choice wondering if something happened to someone else I might get a chance at some point.'

Robinson feels his international exile has left him in good stead at Rovers and without peer has been the best English goalkeeper in the Premier League so far this season.

Robbo continued - 'I am reaping the rewards at Blackburn. I am really enjoying my football - I think my form shows that and I am in a good place at the moment.

'Never say never but let's just say I am enjoying retirement.

Good to see Robbo giving it a bit of thought, to be fair as long as he keeps his form for Rovers I dont mind either way!!!

Like he said, its different being the goalie than being an outfield player, ur chances are more ltd, and tbh id prefer him to concentrate on club football, Don't need England knocking his confiedence again,
