Big Sam doing his January homework

Blackburn are interested in signing German wonder boy Nils Petersen from the wonderfully named Energie Cottbus.

Rovers, as anyone who hasn't been hiding under a rock knows, are in need of a few goals without spending bucket loads so it seems Big Sam has been doing his homework early for the January transfer window.

The price is rumoured to be around £2 million which for someone who has plundered 8 goals in 9 games this term is not half bad.

Cottbus manager Claus-Dieter Wollitz told Bild newspaper - 'Nils Petersen is on his way to becoming a massive player. There was a scout from Blackburn watching him against Bochum and he also watched him in action against Freiburg last Tuesday.'

And he wasn't the only one who chipped in with a quote either, the players agent hasn't been shy.

Meanwhile, Liberam chipped in - 'Blackburn have been looking at Nils for a few matches now. They seem to be very interested and have been in touch with us.

'Mr Glover (as in Martin the Blackburn scout) has been impressed by Nils' performance against Bochum.'

Sounds pretty good and nice to see the planning has started...

Good one! Bargain basement hasn't failed us before! Samba, Nelsen, Salgado!

8 goals in 9 games is pretty impressive but he is going to have to majorly step up his game to come from Bundesliga II to the prem. Hopefully he can adapt quickly. Looks a decent talent.

think he bagged 10 in 11 last season too, Right age and if we can pick him up for a snip could well porve to be nice business for Rovers, However if he was top drawer, surely there would be intrest from the bigger german clubs?
