Ali Syed 'withdraws Rovers interest'

It is being reported that Ahsan Ali Syed has withdrawn his interest in buying Blackburn Rovers amid a lack of co-operation from the club.

Ali Syed was once in pole position to buy the club but his withdrawal more or less confirms that Venkys have won the race to be the new owners.

His spokesperson is quoted in the Sporting Intelligence as saying - "He (Ali Syed) remains committed to acquiring a leading football club should the right opportunity arise but in the meantime wishes Blackburn and its fans well for the future."

Ali Syed even commented himself in the same publication saying - "I was very excited about the prospect of acquiring Blackburn Rovers and am obviously disappointed with the outcome but I would like to thank all the fans for their support in recent weeks."

Syed officially started his bid back in July and unveiled plans to pump £300 million into the club over a period of time.

But since a BBC investigation into his previous life in the UK and his business dealings raised questions over his character difficulties started to arise.

It is also heavily rumoured that the club were not satisfied with several issues regards Ali Syed and he did not provide good enough answers for the board to feel confident in a sale to his Western Gulf Advisory.

Looks like Venkys have won then?!

I know most people would probably be disappointed about this as he was saying all the right things, especially with funds. There must have been something the club weren't happy with so hopefully he doesn't go buy Burnley and make em a Champions League club lol

Its a shame Syed has withdrawnfrom the race.. his plans were much more ambitious than Venkys... but there must be a legitimate reason why the board dont want him taking charge of the club. I'm sure we'll be told in due course.
