'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mr and Mrs Jones have a high profile lodger

Rovers wonder boy Phil Jones has given a little bit insight into his rapid rise, his life and has revealed that he still lives at home with Mum and Dad!

Young Master Jones has burst onto the scene in the last year with some barn storming displays which started in the same fixture that Rovers face tomorrow... at home to Champions Chelsea.

Jones has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Spurs in recent times but sounds like quite a happy chappy after revealing he still lives with his parents and having recently signed a new five year deal to stay at the club he supports.

Phil Jones, spoke to the Daily Mail and said - 'I haven't really thought about moving out, if I did I would probably just end up back there most nights for my meals anyway.

'A year ago I was nowhere near the first team and was just another player hoping to make it at this club. I was happy living with my parents back then and I still am now.'

Jones lives life outside of the fast lane and has admitted that his Saturday nights are slightly less exciting than Sasman's equivalent with the bulk of his Weekend evenings being taken up by watching himself on Match of the Day!

'I haven't been criticised by [Alan] Hansen yet,' Jonesy continued.

Tomorrows game will likely bring back a few memories for Jones and in particular one of the highlights of his young career so far - the smash through three Chelsea players, borderline psychotic run that he went on to one of the biggest roars you will ever hear.

Jones recapped - 'It had just been an incredible day. It was my first game and we were on our way to a good result and I was just a bit emotional. I think it perked up the crowd a little bit and it was what we needed.

'When I found out I was playing I was, like, 'Jesus' and did feel a bit intimidated. But then I realised I had nothing to lose because nobody knew who I was anyway!

'Afterwards John Terry said 'Well done' and he didn't have to. That was nice. I've always looked up to him.'

There is no doubt in my mind that we have a future England international in Phil.

Down to earth for sure!

He could become a 'real' player. I've been impressed by the way he's adapted to his new role in midfield. It'll only serve him well, when he does eventually move back to his more natural position in the back four. Doesn't seem to be suffring from second season syndrome either. If he keeps his feet firmly on the ground he has a great future. Well done to Big Sam for giving him the opportunity at such a young age.
