Teams Stay All Square

Mark Hughes was forced to praise the defences of both Manchester City and Blackburn after the two teams played out their fourth successive draw at the weekend.

He said: 'I thought in the first half we were excellent. I thought we bossed the game and had plenty of possession without creating anything of note in the final third. In the second half I thought it was a little bit more even and they came into it somewhat but I thought it was a game where both sets of defenders were on top. I thought both back fours played excellently.'

You have to go back to the start of the 2003 season for a win in this fixture with Man City beating Blackburn 3-2 at Ewood Park.

This week neither team could even separate themselves by shots on target, 4-4, or corners won, also 4 each. However City did enjoy the lions share of possession at the City of Manchester Stadium with 57% of the ball.
