Junior confident he can make the grade

Rovers forward Junior Hoilett is hoping to make an impact in the Rovers first team and is aiming to make the most of any chances that fall on his speedy lap as and when they appear.

Junior has fallen behind players such as Martin Olsson and Phil Jones in the 'impressive youngsters' category that seems to be hotly contested in true x-factor style at Blackburn nowadays, but the Canadian is still in good spirits.

He is even using Brett Emerton's cameo appearance off the bench at Blackpool as something of an inspiration.

Junior spoke to the Lancashire Telegraph and said - "Of course you look at what Brett did on Saturday and it gives all of us who aren`t playing at the moment that bit of inspiration. It shows you how things can change for you quickly.

"It shows you can make an impact as a substitute and give yourself a chance of getting into the first team. That is what all of us are aiming for.

"I am going to keep on top of my game and keep pushing, like everyone is, and I will keep trying to put pressure on the other players. That is all I can do.

"I will keep working hard in training and keep working hard in games and when I get my chance I need to take it."

Junior put in a storming effort in the reserves against Man United with one assist and a penalty goal to his name and hopes this may translate to a first team appearance.

But the man's self confidence seems to be in good nick and he aims just to keep his noodle to the ground and crack on.

Hoilett continued - "When you are not playing it is hard, you just have to keep focused and keep pushing on, of course the competition makes the team stronger.

"The team is playing well at the moment and there is a lot of choices, so everyone has to play at the top of their game to get in.

"It was good to get on the ball for the reserves the other night and to create stuff for the team and to get on the scoresheet myself. It gets the confidence up and hopefully that can push me on into the first team."

God its a slow news day isn't it?! Good on Junior for knuckling down!!!

He would be playing on the wings, if Sam didn't sign Mame Diouf.

Now we are out of the league cup we have lost a great chance to give these fringe players a game. Hopefully the fa cup draw will be kinder. I think sam needs to be careful with these type of players. I would hate to see the likes of junior have to leave the club to get games. Is he too important a squad player to send on loan to the championship for 6 months

I am not sure 23 is a big fan of his though?!
Mikey Delap
he should be getting more minutes especially in games when we struggle offensively, instead of bringing the likes of Nzonzi and Andrews
DommyWalker
he reminds me a bit of theo walcott,,,,give the lad time and he will shine.

Had more poor games than good, i think he is very average and perhaps more suited to the championship

As you say mikey.. i am not his biggest fan.. when he burst onto the scene everyone was saying the next Defoe etc etc.. from what I have seen.. he is not even close.. has no left foot at all.. so predicable.. goes with his right 100% of the time..
rover23
Loan him out to another prem club.. Wolves, Newcastle, Wigan for example.. see what he can do..

Would'nt be opposed to a loan move... but I'd like to see him have a few run-outs with us first! I'd nearly start him at Stoke.. he might offer us something different... no point playing long balls against those boys!!

This lad is still very young, give him time and he will come good. People were saying the same things of Olsson. Not all players come good straight away.
