N'Zonzi not at the level of last season

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that Steven N'Zonzi has been out of the side because he has not been playing or training at the same level as last year.

The Zonz enjoyed a cracking debut season playing more or less every game and stepping up to the plate to fill a void where no-one expected there to be one.

But this season he has played second fiddle to a holding midfield two of Phil 'Superman' Jones and Vinny 'Yes I am actually fit now' Grella.

The Rovers boss feels this is down to the re-emergence of the Aussie Grella but the majority of the blame lies in the court of the lanky Frenchman.

Sam is in the Daily Star saying - "Steven Nzonzi? I don`t think he has been unlucky, I just don`t think he has played to the level he played last year.

"That is the reason he hasn`t been in the side.

"Vinny, who struggled last year because of injuries, has kept himself a bit fitter and is getting in the frame a little bit more.

"That puts pressure on Steven. He has got a kick up the backside."

I was beginning to wonder what was happening and I guess we know now?!

Usual BFS BullSh1t, lets go air my dirty laundry in the papers as always, i dont care if N'zonzi is not as good as he was last season, how can you tell if he doesnt actually get to play but the fact remains you do this behind closed doors and dont go slagging him off to the tabloids. The fat one of late has gone into God mode and starting to peeve off the fans.

Come on Sam give the lad a break. He played way beyond expectations last season and he's got a big future ahead of him. I have to admit this Big Sam media crave is starting to annoy me a little now. Why say this about one your best young players so early in a season? Can't do much for his confidence surely.

could be good man management - trying to make sure he does not become complacent. But as I said recently in the forum I think it is very hard for a centre mid to shine in this rovers team the way sam sets us up. Often the defence bypasses the midfield and lumps the ball forward to the strikers
Diouf Diouf
Good point that Diouf Diouf... the midfielders in the team will only have emphasis on the defensive side of their game.

Agree in the bad management to go to newspapers with the comments about Zonz, hopefully it was cleared with him first...cheers
