'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roberts still committed to the Rovers cause

Rovers back from the brink striker Jason Roberts has insisted he will still give all for the cause at Ewood Park.

Roberts had long been on his way out of Blackburn after agreeing with Big Sam that he needed to move on for both parties to benefit.

But with a last day move to either Wigan or QPR failing to materialise J-Rob is now stuck at Blackburn and will be told to fight for his place.

Roberts himself though has no doubt he will continue to give it 100%.

J-Rob, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph - "This is football. I was sitting and waiting for phone calls telling me what was happening. At the end of the day if something can`t be done to suit both clubs and the player then nothing can be done. That is how it was.

"For me it is not a problem, not a problem at all. I am a Blackburn Rovers player and if the club wants me at any point I will do my best and will do everything I can for the team.

"I am comfortable with continuing where I am and I am comfortable with what I can do here. I will do my best, train hard and continue to be as professional as I can be. At the end of the day though, football is about opinions."

I know that and I have no problem with that. I honestly don`t believe I have got anything to prove.

"All I can do is keep doing what I have always done.

"I scored more league goals than all our other strikers put together last season and I am comfortable with my record of five goals in 15 starts. I believe I can still score goals in the Premier League and will look to do that if I get the chance.

"It is up to other people to pick the side. All I can do is work hard, turn up for training and I of course will continue to do that. I have got no problem here."

Good attitude.

Wigan was unwilling to even cough up 1M pounds for Roberts, we'll probably end up releasing him for free as well next summer.

to be fair.. i am quite happy JRob is still with us.. as much as we knock him.. with a 1 in 3 goal to game ratio thats 12 goals a season return.. 1 million would have been a good deal for any club..
rover23
I'd still definitely play him...

Still taking it like a champ... J Rob is a very rare breed of footballer. well in son. well in
retroflair31
not really his biggest fan but he can be a handful for defenders. also seen as we only brought in Benjani and Diouf it makes perfect sense to keep hold of him for now.

I don't understand what the problem was - we needed a striker - but Sam wanted to get rid of Roberts before we had a replacement. If these two have had an argument - then they need to sort it out.

Can't see him doing too much this season tbh and he will prob go in january and like most of rovers deadwood it will more thyan likely be for free (Williams interview indicates clubs wanted him for free)

I remember some Wigan fans were delighted the usually shrewd Mark Hughes actually paid 3M pounds for him a couple of seasons ago. They knew they got a real deal, really good money for an outgoing 'striker' like Roberts.
