Benjani is a Rover

Blackburn have snapped up free agent striker Benjani from Manchester City.

Rovers have had the striker down at Brockhall for the last few weeks to run the rule over the injury prone but talented ex-City and Pompey striker.

Benjani did enough to convince the Large One to take a gamble on him with a key factor no doubt being his previous experience in England.

The Zimbabwe international will not be available for Saturday's clash with Arsenal as the paperwork for the deal was not completed in time for him to make the squad.

Welcome to Ewood Park Benjani, I hope to see that pointy celebration thing that you do very soon...

he did really well at pompey before he went to man city, could be revalation, big sam has a habit of getting the best out of players.

Absolutely, a decent player who has everything to prove. Like you say, a squad player.

I was expecting some sort of backlash or somet?! Everyone seems content with this...

It's a good signing. I think the people that are unhappy about it have already aired their views in the forums. Let's keep this positive, guys! Get behind the boys, and let's ensure we kick Arsene's Billy Elliott ass back to bitchville!

Sam signed him on a free, we got nothing to lose. If he scores some goals, we'll benefit from it. If he flops, he'll be released in 12 months time. I believe he'll do ok to prove he's not finished yet, there could be a couple of years more in him.

An interesting signing - this either shows how little money we have, or the lack of quality strikers that are available on the market at the moment. Good luck new Benni!
