Rovers bid for Avdic

Rovers bid for Avdic

Blackburn Rovers have lodged a bid for Swedish sensation Denni Avdic, Sky Sports is reporting.

Rovers have been linked with roughly 7,556 strikers this window but have firmed up a bid for a striker that is being sort after.

Many clubs have expressed an interest in Avdic but it looks like Rovers are making their way to the front of the queue.

The clock's ticking but luckily for us - so are Rovers.

Hopefully someone might be getting their wish here??? He sounds like he comes with a good pedigree so if we can snag him it might be somet of a coup?!

Looks like he has a lot of potential. Hopefully Sam can bring out the best in him!

That is if we sign him. After all we have made several bids to no avail.

Hello, I`m a new member, who have been following your work and your discussions for quite some time now. Anyway, as I live in Sweden I thought I would give you my opinion on a matter relating to swedes and Rovers. This might take while (sorry for the extensive post) Firstly; this rumour about Denni Avdic. It is important to realise that although Sweden has produced quite a few pretty good players in recent time (one is gracing Ewood Park), and although the national team has reached most of the euros and world cups of late, the highest league in the country, where Avdic ply his trade, is rather mediocre. Testimony to this is the fact that it`s over ten years since a swedish team reached the group stage of Champions League. The leagues rank in Europe is 26... That said, it is still possible that Avdic could prove to be a success, or a relative success, if he where to join Blackburn Rovers. He has a good national reputation and obviously can score goals, his ratio this season is great. My view on his proposed transfer is mixed; on one hand I would like to see another young swede in the great Blue and Whites and obviously to see Rovers sign another forward, on the other hand is anouther foreign, promising forward really what we need? He is in many respects similar to Kalinic - who needed a long period before adjusting to Premier League football. With Kalinic, Diouf and possibly Avdic we would have three forwards with a similar challange; to come up with the goods to steer the team upwards - even though they are relatively young and unproven. Talanted swedes normally join teams in Holland or France, and if they prove to be good, they move on to England, Italy or Spain. The leap directly to Premier League has proven too big for most (Ljungberg an exception). Swedens biggest tabloid has it from initiated sources that it is Rovers and Bologna that has bid for Avdic, with more clubs waiting in the wings. ................... Don´t you just love Arsene?

Thanks for the info, Shear. It's interesting to hear things from a Swede's perspective. You are right with what you are saying about the Swedish league, but you can only score the goals in the division you play. 17 goals in 20 appearances in any league is an impressive record, there are players over here playing in the Championship who don't get anywhere near that amount, and the Championship is a pretty crappy league. He may well turn out to be a flop, maybe along the lines of Dahlin, but at a mere £2m he's worth taking a risk on, he could turn out to be another Ljungberg and be a hit in the premiership. If he only scores half of that over here, he will have done better than any of our players from last season. Personally, I hope we get him and I am excited about the possibility of seeing him in a Rovers shirt. How do Swede's view the development of Olsson? Some Arsenal fans yesterday were saying we have ruined him. I don't see how we have ruined him though, since he plays regularly and he has improved a heck of a lot over the past couple of seasons.

We have quite a lot of Scandanavian fans. We are pretty big in Norway and Sweden, mainly because we have an affinity with Scandanavian players, such as Berg et al.

Martin Dahlin superstar!

Please remember Denmark, Per Pedersen was a star too :-)

Is Denni Advic's agent called Martin Dahlin?
