Perea to link up with Rovers

Edixon Perea will link up with Blackburn Rovers starting Monday, Sky Sports understands.

The Colombian international forward is a free agent after leaving Brazilian club Gremio and this summer and Rovers were certainly not the only side sniffing around.

The lad also used to play in France with Bordeaux and has been chased by quite a few other English Premier League clubs as well as the SPL.

Perea's job now will involve impressing Rovers manager Sam Allardyce and proving his fitness to club medical staff before he seals a move.

Sky Sports say that - 'South American sources have confirmed that Perea is flying into England on Sunday and he should start training with Blackburn on Monday.'

The good news? He wouldn't cost Rovers a bean as far as a fee goes...

3 goals in 38 games in ligue 1, i think we'd be better saving the wages or even giving Rigters the chance!

I don't think that is 100% fair to the lad, mars. He has scored a total of 65 goals in 215 games. Sure, that is not - by any stretch - an amazing goal scoring record. But it's just under 1 goal in every 3 games. If he can replicate that for us, and score 10-12 goals, I would be happy with that contribution from a free transfer.

back in the day he was amazing in Football Manager - the source of all knowledge

Fair enough he has a good overall record, but much of that was in South America, and no disrespect to domestic leagues in South America but they are different to European leagues, not going to say worse, but different in philosophy, many hold a more offensive mind set favouring strikers, whilst European leagues are generally more defensive... so just looking at his European goal scoring record 1 in 12 / 1 in 13 is not effective enough.

Worth a look for free, certianly need another striker or 2, so why not
