Benjani training with Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have got former Manchester City and Portsmouth striker at Brockhall as he looks to win a deal at Ewood Park.

Sam Allardyce has decided to run the rule over the Zimbabwean after papers linked Benjani with moves to obscure corners of the globe.

The good news is that Benjani wouldn't cost abean in transfer fees as money bags city released him.

The bad news is that he is used to very high wages, something he certainly won't be getting at Ewood Park (in footballing terms anyway!).

Zimbabwean Benjani spent his first day at Rovers' Brockhall training ground on Tuesday.

Could be a good freebie option??? Especially if we can sign another striker and sell Roberts.

Will be lacking match practice so will prob need a few reserve games before playing for the first team

I like the sound of this... if we get decent little fee for JR and sign Benjani FREE!!, as well as buy another striker we will be looking much better for the new season. Hopefully Benjani has realistic wage demands bearing in mind Man City have been offering ridiculous money to players.

TBF if he has even a shred of awareness about him then he may realise that most clubs dont pay Man City money!!!
Mikey Delap
He's asking for 13k a week, aswell as a 5k appearance fee. So if we offload Roberts (whose wage is significantly higher) we will have extra money for another striker + extra wages (which appears to have been a stumbling block in the past!) things are looking up, great bit of dealing by the fat man!
marsmanic
if he doesnt want sky high wages then I cant see why it will be a bad thing.

Lads, come over to Vital Everton and vote on our poll - "Who will finish 4th" - and don't be afraid to visit the article and have a bit of banter with rival fans!

any more news on the guy? sounds very promising :)
Marco-BRFC
An appearance fee huh? I might ask my boss for one of those tomorrow and see how I go on ;-)
Stubbs
haha good thinking Stubbs ;) id rather we paid him per goal though!
marsmanic
Not overly excited about this as it's like swapping one Roberts for another. If he does stay i hope Roberts goes ASAP to free up cash for a quality striker!
oziroversfan
good option if free. not going to get much for roberts so might as well keep him
retroflair31
Good idea that marsmanic.... goal fee instead of appearance fee!!!
Mikey Delap
If we sell Roberts for a million pounds and sign Benjani for free, it's not a bad idea after all. If he can score 10 a season, he'll be another Big Sam bargain.
