Young Player Of The Season

With your help Vital Blackburn has been trying to determine what have been the best and worst of the Blackburn Rovers 2009-2010 season.

The nominations are still being taken for ONE other Award (Player of the Year) but the Vital Blackburn Awards for 2009-2010 reach its penultimate Award to be dished out with the YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON.

THE WINNER: Steven N'Zonzi.

When asked to simply leave the name of your Young Player of the Season most felt N'Zonzi should be the Award Winner, so congratulations the Zonz on picking up this accolade!! The youngster adds this to his Goal of the Season Award.

This is what people had to say on this category, which can also be viewed by click here.

rover23 said: "Crikey! Aaron Dorran won last time out! must have been an off season for our youth!

This will be the most debated poll i think!

N'Zonzi, Hoilett, Olsson, Jones all in with a shout...

I'm going for N'Zonzi with Olsson a close second!
"

BigNumber5 said: "N'Zonzi with Jones a close second."

adrianbrfc said: "Martin Olsson this year."

Mikey Delap said: "I'll go for Phil Jones. What a breakthrough.

But anyone of five could win this.

My vote - Phil Jones.
"

fransavarese said: "I went for the Zonz as my player of the year so I'll go for someone else here. My vote goes to Olsson. From looking like a bit of a dud to being one of our best players in the space of a season the lad has shown some character. He's shown he can defend, attack even better and has some much needed pace."

FreidelNo.1 said: "N'Zonzi! Great player! When he arrived I thought he'd be on the fringes and one for the future - but he surprised me."

LHrover said: "the Zonz, closely followed by Jones....the shot against everton topped his great season off finely."

BomBom said: "Fonzi. Phil Jones' emergence a close second."

spinaker said: "Nice to have a decent selection to choose from this year. But it's Phil Jones hands down - Incredible debut season!!!"

blackburnsean said: "Jones, the way he made Drogba look like a little bitch in his debut was fantastic. Plus that triple tackle."

DommyWalker said: "N'Zonzi. Jumping from the French third division to the Premier League itself is difficult, not to mention holding down a regular spot on the starting lineup. he has come a long way over the season."

ITSALLROVER said: " N'Zonzi for me.

oziroversfan said: "N'Zonzi.

markj87 said: "Olsson as he dislodged Pedersen. N'Zonzi as he played and developed all season so is a close second. Jones only came to our attention at the latter end of the season. Expect Jones to win it next season.
Note: It is great we have two or three possibilities this year and the expectancy to have more next year.
"

Thanks for voting on this, however, please keep your votes coming in for these other Awards as there is still time to vote so click here for the list of categories and vote on the one(s) you want.

Next to be dished out will be the FINAL Award for the PLAYER OF THE SEASON so keep voting!! (Click here.)

Well done to the Zonz! Cracking effort!
Mikey Delap
This was one of the more difficult categories to call which is a tribute to the young lads. Anyone of Niko, Olsson, Hoilett, The Zonz, Jones and Hanley could have won in my eyes!
Mikey Delap
Couldn't have seen Hanley or Hoilett winning it to be fair Mikey, they did do well when they played, but didn't produce as much as the other lads you mentioned like Zonz, Jones, Niko or Ollson. I'd agree with Zonz because he's played almost every game if i can remember, and he's always been solid and consistent in the centre of the park.

N'Zonz had great season, but have to admit never been so excited about a Young rovers player like i am about Jones since Duff. At only 18 which is very young for a centre back at the highest level, Can't think off the top of my head another player who has just turned 18 and has started as many prem games as a centre back. We see plenty of young forwards, midfielders and even fullbacks take a bow at 18, but not centre backs. Ok he is not the finished article but he is certainly a future star of the English game
