Defender Of The Season

Defender Of The Season

With your help Vital Blackburn has been trying to determine what have been the best and worst of the Blackburn Rovers 2009-2010 season.

The nominations are still be taken for other Awards, but the Vital Blackburn Awards for 2009-2010 continue to be dished out with the COLIN HENDRY AWARD FOR DEFENDER OF THE SEASON.

THE WINNER: Christopher Samba.

When asked to simply leave the name of your Defender of the Season most felt Samba should be the Award Winner, so congratulations to the Wall who picks this up quite comfortably really.

This is what people had to say on this category, which can also be viewed by clicking here.

rover23 said: "tough one.. most been good.. Phil Jones had a good end of season.. but has to be Samba for me..he did well captaining the side.. and had a good overall season!"

adrianbrfc said: "Christopher Samba!"

Mikey Delap said: "I am going to be a little controversial with this one and vote for the Spaniard.

After a sticky start he has been immense and his fitness level for someone in his mid 30's.

My vote - Michel Salgado.
"

fransavarese said: "Salgado was close for me but Samba gets my vote here. He just instills confidence in me. Ball after ball comes into the box and the amount of them that Samba wins is just ridiculous."

FreidelNo.1 said: "When Samba became captain he stopped making rash challenges - Salgado took time to settle, Nelsen did fairly well - but for me it has to be Givet!"

LHrover said: "Salgado! he started slow, but i still think he was playing well, he was our best player against villa at home in the semi (opinion only :)) he came on strong at the end and i think he has brought the youth along, just look at olsson jones and hanley now!"

BomBom said: "Samba, awesome performances this season and, lets be fair lads, he's a package that resembles a baby arm. holding a rattle, hanging out of a pram!!! PMSL"

blackburnsean said: "Samba, always a brute at the back."

DommyWalker said: "Samba. Top notch performance in the second half of the season after being handed the armband. He also worked well with all of his center back partners."

ITSALLROVER said: "Salgado as he got better as the season progressed."

oziroversfan said: "Samba."

Thanks for voting on this, however, please keep your votes coming in for these other Awards as there is still time to vote so click here for the list of categories and vote on the one(s) you want.

Next to be dished out will be the Award for the TUGAY AWARD FOR MIDFIELDER OF THE SEASON so keep voting!! (Click here.)

I know I didn't vote for him but it is difficult to argue with this...
