Gossip - Rovers looking at Jo

Alan Nixon is reporting in todays Daily Mirror that Rovers are eyeing up Man City misfit Jo.

Rovers, as we all know by now, are desperate for striking re-inforcements and Jo seems to fit the bill if rumour is to be believed.

Jo is one of the names that City are trying to get out of Eastlands as they look to trim down their bloated squad.

It looks as if Rovers want to buy the player outright at a reduced figure or get the lad in on loan.

Either way, I think would be good if we could pull this off, he has looked a classy player to me even if he had a mixed time at Everton on loan.

Worth a punt?

Why not, should be a decent price and he can score goals in the prem. Please just buy another striker we need goals.

Not sure about this, 5 goals in 27 appearances for Everton & went AWOL. Has not shown committed to either City or Everton, what makes you think he would be any more committed to Rovers? He is a 'journeyman' only in the UK for the cash, think his passion is still in Brazil. If he comes, I hope I am wrong. Personally, I would rather gamble on Nikica Jelavic.

Matt Derbyshire has scored 11 goals in his last 26 appearances. More than twice as many as Jo! People point to his poor score/match figures at Ewood but we should not forget that most of his appearance at Ewood were as sub, often only on the field for the last 10 mins. Anyone know Derbyshires figures for goals/mins. on pitch? His imput and goals have been missed since he left, more than we thought we would at the time. If we had had "Supersub" To bring on last season, we would have won more points.

matt derbyshire was crap at ewood.. theres a reason mark hughes and big sam used him in the last 5 mins only.. our only manager to start him reg in prem was Ince... think the other 2 knew what they were doing.. greek league is easy to score in.. Jo cost city 19 million for a reason.. matt derbyshire was sold for 2.5 million for a reason... Jo > Derbyshire..

TBF Derbs is a great sub but a weak starter.... Jo was a hit at Everton in his first season but caused trouble at Everton second time around - but who's the best at dealing with tempremental players??? I'll give you a clue... He's large and his name rhymes with Jig Ham....

we need a goal scorer someone thats going to give 110% season after season no point in wasting time on journey men or donkeys (heskey) its time for the chairman to put his hand in his pocket and grab a proven goal scorer

He wasn't impressive at Everton, City doesn't want him. Don't think he's the answer for us, won't mind a loan deal to try him out at Rovers. But i urge Sam to bring our local lad Derbyshire back.
