Rovers net double friendly win

Rovers net double friendly win

Rovers sent out two teams over the weekend, both a mixture of first teamers and the young lads to kick start the pre-season in strange fashion.

Two friendlies took place at the same, on against Fleetwood Town and one against Southport, both featuring the mighty Blue and White Army.

To make matters all the sweeter Blackburn won both matches quite comfortably although it has to be said that both non-league outfits were tremendously committed and well organised.

Over at Fleetwood goals from Jason Roberts in the first half and a second period notch from the Zonz saw us coast to a 2-0 win... both goals were headers from a cross in open play.

And in the haven that is Southport, goals from Pascal Chimbonda, Maceo Rigters (remember him?) and an absolute belter of a volley from David Dunn racked up a 3-0 success.

Dunny's goal for reference was hit on the volley from 40/45 yards!

The most interesting thing to come out of the game though was that both teams played a 3-5-2 formation with wing backs - a coincidence or a sign???

Thought there might of been something on the official site showing the goals, maybe in the next few days. They also played 3-5-2 in Austria last week, i am thinking he's going for something new for the new season!!! I think with the players we have it could work very well!!!

I suppose results dont mean a great deal at the moment but it sounds like we played well and kept the ball on the deck a lot more... will be interesting to see if we carry on down this road!

makes sense though, olsson bombing on on the left flank, emo on the right? a centre 3 of Givet, Samba and Nelsen, with Jones first reserve?

formation does sound promising, but it could be a problem if salgado is on the right flank instead.

to be honest.. id say it was a 4-4-2 at Fleetwood.. Phil Jones played right back and Jackson Ramm on the right wing.. with Gunning and Hanley at CB and Olsson LB.. but it may have been intentionally 3-5-2 but didnt really work out that way..

Championship Cost Per Goal So Far In 2016/17

The end of the Championship campaign of 2016/17 is only a month and a bit away from fans across the country but as we go in to the remaining weeks of the campaign...

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
