'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jones for England?

From Vital England:

When people say the name 'Phil Jones' few will know who this guy is, right?

Well the young Blackburn defender is really making his mark on the game - such an impression in fact that his manager Sam Allardyce, as he told The Lancashire Telegraph, believes the teenager is already pushing for senior England involvement!

The 18-year-old was one of those wanted for the U19 Euros later this month, although Allardyce did not want this to happen - but he says only because he was already aware of the fact that he was coming into the next U21 squad, so he wanted him around for pre-season training, rather than playing in France: 'I don't have a problem with the Football Association. We said we would like to keep Phil for our pre-season preparations because we are a small squad and the Premier League starts in a month's time.

'But that was only after we had been told by the FA that he was going to be named in the next U21 squad.

'So we thought, what's the point in him going away with the U19s when he will be in the U21s as soon as the season starts? The FA were fine with that.

'He is a top young player and it's my belief in any case that he will be in the full England squad before very long.'

Jones, who only made his premier league debut in March, is earning some rave reviews and I have seen by looking around Vital Blackburn a little that the guy is VERY highly rated and regarded!

Yep, I know that a particular clubs own fans can show a bit of a 'biased' view sometimes but I did see a little bit of him last season and he looks a decent defender - lets see how he does this season, and in the U21 squad, but I am one of those that is a firm believer of the 'if they are good enough they are old enough' thought.

That whole, 'they are too young and inexperienced' talk does annoy me.

Whilst I do agree that you have to pick the 'right moment', the case of Scott Carson against Croatia back along was a prime example of the 'wrong moment' to gain that experience, but experience only comes by getting that chance.

So, if he can continue to develop and impress at club level this season, and does the business at U21 level then why not eh!

Afterall this England squad DOES need a shake-up...

It cuts both ways mate really. England could draw traffic to you, aswell as Vital Blackburn drawing traffic to Vital England. Swings and roundabouts and all that - everyones a winner...
