Allardyce for England boss? Unlikely

Oh dear. This was always going to happen at some point.

With all the papers ready to whip the welcome rug out from underneath Fabio Capello's feet after the dismal 4-1 defeat to Germany in the World Cup second round, the usual suspects are touted as the next man with his head on the chopping block.

Given that our current Rovers manager is a) English b) in a bit of form as a manager and c) a media darling of sorts it was only a matter of time before someone put him forward to be the next manager of the national side should the Italian Capello depart.

The Sun newspaper stepped up this morning to put Big Sam forward.

Journalists with an agenda? Wild speculation? Band wagon jumping? I don't know and I am not going to pretend that I do but I will address this topic from a Blackburn fans point of view which will be more balanced than some other teams fan coming on and pointing out all the stereotypical nonsense that comes with the controversial Big Sam.

As a man that actually admires Big Sam and recognises his managerial skills I feel he would do a good job as manager of England.

His man management skills are excellent, he gets the best out of the players e has got and despite what anyone says, he maximises the results from the whatever he has in front of him.

That is without question. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't like the man.

Having said all that - this is at best a long shot.

Capello should keep his job for starters. You could put and God and Jesus as co-managers of the England squad and they would still only get to the quarter finals at best, moving managers and making a knee jerk sacking of Fabio would be beyond mindless.

Big Sam himself should he in theory be in the running for the job would face a backlash from the casual fan - most view him as a tactical dinosaur with a propensity to go direct and play the long ball game. No matter how successful that would be, it will not be welcomed by anyone outside of Blackburn/Bolton ad the purist would revolt against the successful yet aesthetically disgusting football.

He also as human being seems to be disliked by all in England. As a Rovers fan I can assure you he does have that 'Robbie Savage' feel to him... if he plays for you then you respect and admire him, if he doesn't then he gets in your face and on your wick and you form a negative opinion.

It doesn't matter who calls for Allardyce to step up and take the big job, he may be good at it but some supporters would never have it and would never give it a chance.

For that reason alone he will be left well alone by the FA if the job did become available.

i hope he doesnt go, hes great for us. he'd be a fantastic engand manager as he gets the best out of people...just look at diouf! but i cant see all the sofa fans from manchester, london and liverpool being for it.

Great to see Big Sam being linked. i feel sorry for the man as he's kinda been dubbed a long ball tactician but his man management skills are obviously second to none with the players he's resurrected over the years. The England ego's would benefit from this i'm sure but let's face it he ain't ever getting that job is he.

England is looking for a high profiile star name manager, no disrespect to Big Sam, he has done a terrific job for us. But does he fit the England bill? Now that Roy Hodgson is set for Liverpool, Harry Rednapp is favourites for the job.

BSA for England! Nope, never happen! Fabio would keep his job if BSA was going for it. I like the way Harry Rednapp has shamelessly put his name forward too.
