Big Sam wanted in Dubai

Big Sam wanted in Dubai

Dubai club Al Ahli are considering making a move for Rovers head honcho Big Sam Allardyce.

Stories surfaced at the weekend that the ambitious Dubai club are looking to make waves in the world football and back up their purchase of Fabio Cannavaro with a big name manager.

Several names like Marcelo Lippi and Mark Hughes have been bandied about alongside the Rovers boss but Sam's name is one that could lead to a firm move if they get the right sounds from the former Newcastle and Bolton Wanderers manager.

The backroom at Ewood Park are reported to be borderline desperate to hang onto Allardyce due to the sterling shift that he has done by rebuilding the club after the shocking term of Paul Ince.

Rovers, who are a 'tad skint', would not be able to match the money on offer in the tax free haven that is tropical Dubai and Sam is known to be a fan of the area as he holidays and does some pundit work over there. But they are banking on the stability factor on offer at Blackburn and the knowledge that Big Sam has built a team here with young players that are ready to breakout.

The man himself has not said much on the matter but early paper reports indicate he would reject a move to stay at Rovers - but that is more rumour than anything else.

This one could run for a bit but my gut feeling is that he will stay here.

I personally would be not happy if he went.

If we can get Hughes back, 'sell' Sam to either Dubai or England for a nice fat fee and allocate the cash to the transfer fund. Simples.

Perhaps Roy might come home... I think he'd do a better job that Sam and his ego isn't as big.

I think Big Sam's ambitions are much higher than Dubai. yes there's a lot of money being thrown around but the Premier league is as good as it get's really. Can't see this happening at all.

Roy Hodgson won't come back to us if Sam goes. I would welcome Hughes back, but i don't think he would wanna be back with us either. So keep hold of Sam is vital.

I think the premier league is just that "the premier league" and just like the majority of players, Managers also want to be in the top league to test their skills and although the money may be better over there, I think Sam will stick it out...

Football over here is a mess - Big Sam will know that, he's spent enough time here on holiday, or as a guest on the Showtime network. They struggle to get crowds up to 2000 people (a min requirement for participation in the ACL) largely because, IMO, they don't advertise the games to expats - no-one I've spoken to here knows when a game is on, or the names of even half of the teams. Also, they change coaches more than Real Madrid, and all of them (coaches, managers) seem to complain about the lack of fight of the players when they go a goal behind. If Big Sam has had heart problems in the EPL, wait until a couple of weeks in the job over here, lol.
