Olsson signs FIVE year deal - superb!

Rovers winger Martin Olsson has handed everyone a massive boost by committing his future to the club to the tune of a new five year deal.

Olsson had an extremely slow start to his Rovers career but since the turn of 2010 has been arguably Rovers best player and with him still being in his early 20's this is a massive coup for the club to keep a player that is as good as Martin is, at his age and with his prospects.

Olsson, speaking to rovers.co.uk said - 'Signing a new contract is easy for me after the enjoyment of last season, I gained a lot of confidence, through both the management and my team-mates, and I thought I improved game by game.

'I got my chance and I felt I took it and it doesn't matter to me whether I am seen as a left winger or a left back, as long as I am playing and contributing then I am happy. But I must say that I have enjoyed the forward role and the chance to get in among the goals.

'I have relaxed more and I am already looking forward to next season for I feel I can get better.'

The Big Man as usual stepped in with his mandatory comment.

Big Sam added - 'Martin was outstanding for us last season, a young player who came in and made a magnificent contribution. He has really started to understand the game and now knows how best to use his talents to the team's advantage.

'I am absolutely delighted that another of our young starlets has pledged his long-term future to the Rovers - that can only be good news, very good news indeed.'

Super news I think we can all safely say.

We've got a lot of young talent at the moment and its vital that they are all signed up on long term contracts to protect the club when the Premier League's vultures start circling which they inevitably will as these guys get better. This is indeed fantastic news.. especially on the back of Phil Jones signing a similar contract. Well done Big Sam.. these guys clearly have a lot of faith in you!!

One of a few who must become the core of the squad. A superb new deal, and well deserved

Hoilett, Jones and now Olsson signed up and committed. The club is definitely going in the right direction.
