Benni misses out on South Africa Squad

Ex-Rovers striker Benni McCarthy has failed with his season long aim to make the South Africa squad for the World Cup in his home country.

Benni kicked up a fuss to move to West Ham in January due to his falling out with manager Sam Allardyce and to improve the chances of him getting more games to prove his worth to the national side.

But instead, it has all gone wrong.

Since the turn of the year, Benni has bagged an absolutely tremendous 0 goals and has been benched a fair bit as well with a run of niggly injuries.

Complaints of him, being shall we say 'heavy' have continued in East London even if the talent is still there.

Unlucky Benedict.

This is not meant to sound like a total gloat but it is difficult not to raise a small smile.

Massive blow to the credability of Team-Benni! :-) Other ex-Rovers... Warnock seems to be in, Mokeona makes 100 caps for South Africa, Emerton fit again.

In all seriousness, I was a little sad for Benni

he is a hack of a player but he did this to himself.

One of the prems biggest under achievers. Started so well in his first season, a real poacher. He's got talent and a real eye for Goal. Shame he enjoyed the hotpots a little too much.
ITSALLROVER
Maybe this will be the wake up call he will need for next season? He is a talented lad, with charisma and cracking movement. But a clear attitue problem has held him back. You can be Pele for all I care but if you don't have the attitude to go with it then you get nowhere.
