'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Morten contract reaction from the horse's mouth

Morten Gamst Pedersen has spoken of his pleasure at signing his brand new deal.

Pedersen has been touch and go for a while now as to whether he would sign up or leave for pastures new, but the deal has been sealed now leaving the future clear.

Morten has insisted Blackburn was always his first choice.

Pedersen, speaking to rovers.co.uk said - "Blackburn always was my first choice. We have a united team, great management and brilliant supporters.

"Also, there aren`t many footballers who get the opportunity to stay with one Premier League club for 10 years. I did and I want to honour that."

Big Sam is just pleased to have retained the services of Morten for longer, as to say there were doubts over his commitment would be an understatement.

Big Sam commented - "Pedersen is one of our most dedicated and professional players,'

"We`re glad to finally have a contract in place and look forward to the new season."

So all is right with the world again. Will the new deal by a boost or will complacency set in?

Typical players' talk, which should be translated as 'I searched for big clubs high and low, bit I couldn't find any willing to take me on at this time, and so, I have deigned to stay for a while yet.Praise me.'

Have to agree with you there. And he sure did take his bloody time!!! So it was kinda obvious he was looking to leave if he got a better offer. But he didnt and im glad he is on the team still.
oziroversfan
say what you will, he had the most assists with 7. jrob is second with 3.

as long as he keeps playing the way he has. and lets be honest, if he fails, we can now sell him instead of letting him go for free. either way this new contract works
retroflair31
surely robbo had the most assists lol

I think some of these comments have been a bit harsh - MGP has improved this season, his set pieces have led to goals; and he's playing with more passion. If he was looking for a new club he would want to go to one that would be better - it's the same with any job = why would you leave to go to a worse job?? A better job didn't come along and he wanted to stay!

Also, MGP wasn't beating a drum to leave or to get better pay or anything like that - he didn't moan and stamp his feet or miss training sessions like some other players this season - and most of the people who we sold haven't excelled away from Ewood either.

I must say again that FN1 speaks sense here... I like it.

I'm happy about this, firstly he has improved over the last 4-5months whether he was playing for a new contract or not he played well, we all know he is a confidence player and having you manager coming out in the press stressing how much he wants him to sign coupled with his recent form SHOULD result in a good start to the new campaign from MGP. If all else fails we now have him on a long term contract so if we want rid of him we can get some dosh for him that can be used to find a replacement!!!
