'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Friedel praises Blackburn's progress

Ex-Rovers goalkeeper and upcoming opponent Brad Friedel has championed the cause of the Ewood Park club and highlighted the tremendous effort and skill it takes to keep Rovers at a high level.

Friedel's Aston Villa take on Blackburn this weekend in the last game of the season. It will be a game to enjoy as both sides have little to play for.

Rovers however are looking to finish in the top half.

Friedel told Aston Villa's official website - 'What people need to look at is what a good club Blackburn are.

'You look around and see other clubs splashing money around and getting themselves into financial trouble.

'But Blackburn have not only kept themselves in the top flight, they have regularly been in the top half, and even in Europe. And they have done it on a very good budget.

'The board have done a magnificent job. You never hear of any financial troubles.

'They have budgets which aren't massive in the transfer market, but they treat their players very well and it's a good place to play.'

Well said Brad and good luck this weekend.
