'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Olsson hails captain Nelsen

Martin Olsson has today hailed Ryan Nelsen as an inspiration to every player at Blackburn Rovers and a truly fitting captain.

Martin has been on fire this season on the left hand side of the pitch and puts a lot of the drive and inspiration he feels down to the actions and leadership skills of the club captain.

Olsson, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said - "For me Ryan Nelsen shows an example for everybody and he has been doing that for the last few years,"

"He has played I don`t know how many games for Rovers.

"It`s just fascinating to see a guy who plays every week for the last few years and keeps playing that kind of football, with his ability and the way he leads the team.

"It`s nice to see and of course FROM BACK PAGE everyone wants to be like that.

"I want to stay at Rovers and play that many games."

Nelly is a very softly spoken and likeable figure off the pitch but on it is a different matter, he is a lion and his passion for the club is top draw.

Something that has not been lost on Olly.

The Swede continued - "He plays with his heart and he always wants to win games,"

"You can see in his face that he is the one who is emotional.

"It`s very nice to see that kind of emotion from a captain.

"That rubs off on all his other team-mates and we all don`t want to lose as well.

"He`s a good example for all of us."

Kind words indeed.

too right... but the most exciting part of all that: "I want to stay at Rovers and play that many games."

Who would have thought that this was the same guy from last season! Last year he had a nightmare - this year a totally different guy!

...saying that - he's a bit like Gareth Bale - a better winger than defender.
