Salgado earns Allardyce praise

Michel Salgado has wormed his way into the Sam Allardyce good books, so much so that he is earning praise from the boss.

Salgado had a slow start to life in England and was widely criticised for his £45,000 a week wages whilst being old, slow and out run by even the more turgid of Premier League winger.

But since the turn of the year the Spaniard has been a revelation at right back and has turned in a string of strong and dominating right back performances.

That has not gone un-recognised by Big Sam.

Allardyce speaking to the Daily Star said -"He is out there leading by example,"

"Our young lads are playing well for us but Michel is doing more than his bit and his experience has proved invaluable.

"He has come to terms with what it takes to play in the Premier League and, since December, has been outstanding for us. There is not a fitter lad about, that`s what I like about him."

Fair play to Michel, I was one of many who was quick to take a dig and say that he was 'past it', but looks like we were wrong.

lol FN1. He has come good there is no denying but can we also include his off field influence as well even though pretty much all of us dont get to see it?!

Now that he's used to the pace of the prem. he's got a lot better. Unfortuantely age is his enemy. I hope he can keep going for another season though.

Another season and he will be done me thinks, but the last three months have been impressive without any doubt. That Chelsea game at Ewood in particular was a monster performance!
