Basturk set to showcase himself

Basturk set to showcase himself

Yildiray Basturk, he of 'The Forgotten Man' fame will be soon getting a shot in the first team as he looks to earn himself a new deal at the end of the season.

Initially signed on a short term deal in January, Basturk has either been unfit or injured (see also : Reid, Steven and Grella, Vince) despite being tipped for big things.

But finally, Yildiray will be given the chance to shine...

Big Sam, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said - 'He played for the reserves last week and he is fit and well again after a niggling injury,'

'It is very difficult to put him into my team based on the fact of the strength and depth of the squad I have available now. Before the end of the season I do expect to give him a run out somewhere to see if he can show us the sort of qualities we know he has had during his career in Germany.'

He has got a small window to do his thing!

I do hope he gets a chance to shine as I think he can add a bit of flair which we do still need...

Trouble is you don't really want to disrupt the team at the moment as they're playing so well.

Sounds like he did very well in the reserves so maybe he can get on for a sneaky 20 minutes at the end of the Everton/Wolves game?

If he can't get any match time then (unless he's really impressed Big Sam in training) he'll not be here next season will he?? However, if he has impressed Big Sam in training he would've played by now wouldn't he?

Really hope given the chance he can recapture some of his form of old as he really was a great palyer in his day. I constantly read about his impressive displays in the reserves but he's yet to have the chance in a proper game. Good to see that Sam will at least give him a chance. At the end of the day if it doesn't work out it hasn't cost us a great deal and if it does work out we've got another little gem.

i would imagine if basturk or doran played the whole season instead of diouf we'd have been higher up the table

he deserves to be given a chance. he could be part of our answer for more creativity and better passing in the midfield.
