MGP considering renewed Blackburn offer

Morten Gamst Pedersen is considering a second contract offer as talks between the midfielder and Blackburn Rovers continue to try and resolve the differences to get the fairy winger to stay.

The Norwegian International's deal expires this summer, with six or seven clubs including Fiorentina and Olympiakos all believed to be tracking the situation.

After a fairly poor two years at the club, Morten has been back to somewhere near his best since the turn of January and Rovers are keen to tie him down to a new deal rather than lose him for sweet FA in the summer.

Interesting times lie ahead but I believe we should not be held to ransom by an erratic player...

flipping heck, dragging on a bit aint it?!

Personally I don't think that MGP wants to stay, if he doesn't accept this contract then that confirms it. If he wanted to stay he'd sign on the dotted line wouldn't he??
Walker
I think it's becoming clear he'll be gone in the summer. shame we can't get any fee for him but to be honest he's been fairly inconsistent for years now and i've been glad to see a bit more pace down the left from Olsson.

hes awful at freekicks anyways! - he hasnt scored one in ages and we really could use a new free kick taker Olsson is a lot faster and shows a touch of class in ways pedersen cannot - eg that goal v villa.

last one he scored with in a cup tie this season i believe, who knows about gamst, though what can we get in on a free for the same wages

It all depends on how much these wages are going to set us back doesn't it?? The more MGP looks to drive these up the more the chances are that Big Sam can pluck a bargain from somewhere on the same (probably less) wages anyway??
Walker
Left wing/central midfield is a tricky position to pick up a bargain though....

Joe Ledley? he ticks those 2 positions and is avaiable for free at the end of the season!

Ledley could be a good shout. Also counts toward the "homegrown" quota. Personally I don't think Peds is anywhere near what he was. People say he's close to his form of a few years ago but I really don't see it. His set plays are still disappointing on a regular basis, he isn't scoring, supplying much nor standing out in games. For me that signals the end. Don't get me wrong I'd love for him to go back to the good old Morten but I just don't see it happening. Maybe a change of clubs is what he needs to reignite his career.

For me i'd be having a go at getting a player like Jermain Pennant for the right peg as I don't think he would cost the earth and he's a talented player. I think Olsson and Diouf can fill the left side. the main signing has to be a 15 -20 goals a season striker to get us back in the top 6.
