Reid offered West Brom deal

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid has been offered a three year deal at WBA after impressing at the Hawthorns during his loan spell in the midlands.

Reid has been plagued by injuries at Rovers over the last few years but has been a success in the Championship with the soon to be promoted side.

Rovers do call the shots with the Reid deal but what Reid seems to be getting from West Brom he doesn't seem to be getting from Ewood Park - mainly due to our reluctance to sanction a big deal in light of his injury record.

A source close to Reid (yes one of those!), spoke to the Sun and said - 'Come the end of the year, Steven wants to sort out his future.

'It has been a stressful time so far because his contract ends at the end of May.

'West Brom will offer him security and he is keen to get that. Blackburn have first option, but so far there has been more interest from West Brom.'

Interesting decision ahead for Big Sam and the crew.

Good luck to reidy if he moves on. We just need someone whose fitness we can rely upon.

Isnt it a little cheap if he just ups and leaves though or is it best for all concerned?!

I'd say best for all. I think Reid would stay if we really wanted him. But if he can find injury free regular football (with what is a good side) then good on him... however this may come back to haunt us when WBA get promoted

it is unfortunate that we can't reap the benefits , if any, for being patient with him; but his history doesn't justify him to a new deal. at the end, it looks like he will be playing premier league football next year, so good for him.

After all the time, effort and money we've spent on him during his injured years I'd personally expect a little more respect, however, we can't take any further chances by offering him to much security given his track record can we?? It'll be a shame to see Reidy go, however, I think it's best for everyone if he does really.

Ill never forget his scream against wigan - at their place when we won 3 - 0

I don't think Reidys loyalty and respect for the club can't be called into question because the club haven't given him the option to stay. This seems to me that he wants a deal at Rovers so has released this info of an offer at WBA to force our hand a little. Now we are safe is probably a great time for these things to be sorted.

it's a shame he didn't play much from injuries... probably best for all if he goes to west brom

will he pick us over WBA though if push comes to shove?
Mikey Delap
At his age and the years of football lost I think Reidy will (and even though it might have sounded like I was saying otherwise before), and rightly so, go for the option where he has most chance of playing regularly (if he stays fit) and that'll be with West Bromwich Albion won't it??
