Salgado to end it with Rovers

Salgado to end it with Rovers

Michel Salgado is planning to leave football, well in Europe anyway, after his spell at Blackburn.

Michel spent 10 years at Real Madrid and decided to finally upgrade to a proper club in Rovers to see out his competitive playing days.

But the absolute nutter reckons this will be about it when his two year deal runs out at the end of next season.

Salgado, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said - 'In Europe, yes. I think this is enough,'

'It's a long career with competitive teams, 10 years with Real Madrid, and now I am really enjoying it with Blackburn.

'I think it's going to be my last in Europe, but I still think I have some exciting time ahead here. I wouldn't keep playing if I didn't believe that.'

The 34-year-old with a full head of hair had a slow start to life in England and took time to adjust to the game.

Questions will always be asked about whether he is actually worth £45,000 a week but without doubt he has improved drastically in the last month or so and isnow a regular starter.

'I am feeling really well,' he continued. 'I am playing regularly, it's great and I think I am improving each week.

'I have settled into the Premier League and this is very important for me.

'It's a great end of my career and I am enjoying the Premier League and the culture of football in England, and I enjoy Blackburn.'

Good honest words from the man. I am sure we will be getting more out him in the next season and a bit.

Maybe if he loves it so much he can lure a talented Real Madrid youngster or two to Rovers on loan next season. God knows we need some flair! Fair play to him he's won me over. Ok 45k a week is always gonna be too much for someone of his age at our club but he certainly has looked more solid as the weeks go by and puts in a hell of a cross.

Why not, Salgado must have some connections with Real Madrid soon so that could help us tempt some over (past, present or future??) We'll get a good season out of him next season before he heads off to the United States to end it all together.

End his career in the US that is, not to "end it all together" in a "before turning the gun on himself" type of ending it all lol!!

I thinking guti beckham and nistelrooy when we first signed salgado, hopefully he will still manage to lure some others over. I think hes done well for us this season, even when hes been out paced he still shows good defensive awareness and is willing to fight for the team.
