Big Sam explains Dunny substitution

Big Sam has explained that he took Dave Dunn off for Brett Emerton on Sunday due his fear of Dunny picking up a fresh injury.

Dunn has been an inspiration for Rovers this season but has fallen foul time and time again to injury problems.

Against Chelsea, when Big Sam spotted Dunn struggling, he acted qucikly to stop a small problem becoming a bigger one.

Allardyce, speaking to rovers.co.uk said - 'I wasn't liking Dunny stretching his calves and things like that,' said Allardyce to the club's website.

'It was telling me that if he carried on he might tweak a muscle again, so we took him off and put Morten in there and then of course we felt Niko had battled a lonely battle so we put a fresh pair of legs in with Jason Roberts.

'So in the end it worked very well.'

So that clears that up then.

Maybe this was a way for saving him for this weeks two games?!

Fair enough I say. Save him for the Dingles! By the way anyone notice Basturk wasn't even in the squad for Chelski? Anyone know the situation with him? Injured? Fading into obscurity? Still hoping we see him before the season is out! Let's go 2 up front vs Brum and try and impress to boost confidence for the derby of all derbies!!!

LHrover
He will get a showing I am sure will Basturk. And dunn will want these two games more than any other I think :)

Dunn needs to be iced up for the dingles.... I'd go to the extent of bemching him against brum.... He wants the derby more then the rest of the team
sasman
Hope he'll start against Brum and score against them. We need and should go for a win.

big sam outcoached all of us on the weekend. I wasn't happy when dunny came off, but when Roberts came on for Kalinic?... goes to show exactly why the big man is in charge
