Big Chris backs Robbo for World Cup spot

Rovers stand in captain Chris Samba has urged Paul Robinson to keep his head held high, despite his injury setback.

It is rumoured Robbo will be out for 4-6 weeks tops but Samba reckons Robbo is good enough for a World Cup spot.

Robbo is competing with Joe Hart, Robert Green, David James and Ben Foster for the three spots on the plane.

Samba told the Lancashire Telegraph - 'I hope Paul is not out for too long. The World Cup is coming and he has to defend his chances. I hope he recovers quick and can defend his chances.

'We all want to see him back for us and for England. Of course he still has a chance. I think he definitely deserves his place for the World Cup for England.

'Hopefully he can come back fit and show that.'

Samba has also backed immediate replacement Jason Brown to do the business in Robinson's absence.

He continued - 'We have keepers and whoever plays we trust to cover Paul Robinson and to do his best.

'If Jason delivers on the pitch what he delivers in training every day, then there won't be any problem.

'He plays well for us when he plays and we will have no worries at all, we know we will be fine.'

Good luck to Robbo with his scan, alongside Joe Hart he has been the best English goalkeeper there is this season.

I think Robbo deserves to go to the WC but he hasnt been in the last few squads and now he has an injury so I dont think it is looking too good, which is a shame because I think he is amongst the three best english keepers in the country.

Robbo deserves to go to the World Cup, however, he isn't going to as Fabio Capello hasn't picked him for ages so this injury isn't going to help him.
Walker
this ship has sailed... for whatever reason (probably because he's resigned to the fact England are getting knocked out anyway) Capello doesn't like Robbo... with the lastest injury he really has no hope
