Allardyce: Webb Did Us No Favours

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce discusses his thoughts on our defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday with Sky Sports.

Allardyce believes that Rovers were denied two clear penalties that didn't help us in the 3-1 defeat and found the disallowed goal from Nikola Kalinic strange to understand.

Allardyce told Sky Sports: "If you look at the decisions made today against Blackburn Rovers by Howard Webb, the first one I think is the most blatant, the tackle by (Vedran) Corluka on (David) Dunn, he goes straight across the ball and gets the player.

"I then feel (Sebastien) Bassong is all over (Christopher) Samba on the long throw, so we were looking at at least one penalty first half, if not two.

"We then get the best goal of the day ruled out for a so-called handball. For me it's not handball, it's hit him on the arm. If you look at it again he can't even see where the ball is because (Michael) Dawson has hit him in the back.
"

Big Sam realises that it probably wouldn't have altered the result in the end (the disallowed goal), however, he was happy with how we played but bemoaned the goals that we gifted Tottenham.

He added: "I think we played a really good game.

"It's always important to see your players play well and I think we have played well. But I think we have to look at ourselves and look at our defending on the goals and say if we do the basics correctly.

"It's not Tottenham's great ability it's our poor defending that has cost us the game.
"

Unlucky for kalinic coz that strike was great . the goalkeeper let down on the second goal coz at that time blackburn were just starting to dominate

Webb is a disgrace. I like Blackburn but i have to disagree with Fat Sams remarks that you played a "very good game". I remember 2/3 years ago when you really were playing good games and winning matches, yesterday we didnt get out of 3rd gear with almost our second string playing. He will get you safe but you are a top 10 premiership side he doesnt seem to realise that, just not a fan of his guys sorry. Good luck for the rest of the season and i'd try tempt Hughesy back if i were you!

Obviously didnt watch guys, we gave you aa good run for your money and two of your goals were GIFTS. Count your lucky stars, say well done and move on. The ref was bad for both sides though!

2007/8, Man Utd (Old Trafford) 0-0 after 60mins, Berbatov rounds van der Sar and shoots, only for Wes Brown to block the shot with his arm. Webb does not give the penalty. Alan Hansen described it as "clearly a penalty" and that Brown should have been sent-off. 2008/9, Man Utd (Old Trafford) Spurs leading 2-0 after 57mins, Webb gives a shocking penalty to United. After the game, and after a huge amount of (negative) coverage, he apologises for the decision. 2009/10, Chelsea (Stamford Bridge) 1-0 to Chelsea after 55mins, Keane is through on goal but is brought down by Carvalho. Webb doesn't give the penalty. It was described by the Guardian live text as "Absolute 100%, 24-carat stonewall penalty to Spurs. Not given." 2009/10, Liverpool (Anfield) Liverpool leading 1-0 after 35mins, Kyrgiakos is all over Crouch in the box. Webb gives a free-kick to Liverpool, described as a "strange decision" on BBC Sport's live text. After 47mins, Defoe capitalises on a mistake in the Liverpool defence to score, but Webb disallows the goal. The match report on the BBC Sport webpage says "the exact nature of the offence was not clear". 200/910, Blackburn (White Hart Lane) Spurs leading 2-0 after 65mins, Bale is brought down in the box by Salgado. Webb doesn't give a penalty. BBC Sport's live text states "I'm not sure how or why that wasn't a penalty". (compiled by Day of the Triffics pt.2)

Mikey totally agree, but we are only pointing out the recent history of Coward Webb vs Spurs! He's a disgrace

Great thing about Howard Webb - he won't be able to ref an England match at the world cup! Good times!
