'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Grella sticks knife into critics (not literally!)

Aussie Rover Vince Grella is not a happy chappy.

He is hitting back at the critics who claim Rovers are purely a long ball team.

Backing up Big Sam's comments at the weekend, Vince is confident that the bad press attracted by Liverpool manager/bar tender Rafa Benitez is merely a smoke screen to deflect away from the very tough game that Liverpoll had against Rovers.

Grella, speaking to Sky Sports said - 'I've played football in Italy for a long time and to be labelled a long-ball specialist was a little bit offensive,'

'But it's part of football. You've got to have thick skin.

'I'm a little bit disappointed. I thought we had a great game against Liverpool.

'I've seen it in Liverpool's players' eyes that it was a tough game for them and they couldn't wait for the final whistle.'

I don't think we can defend the fact that we like the long ball a bit but to say that is all that is to our game is just flat out ignorant and a lazy cliche.

Well said Vince.

Trouble is, we've never been a press-favourite team - they always find something to moan about. It's probably because we don't sell enough papers for them, so they have to invent something.

It is just a terrible cliche that they use, "Oh look its a team managed by Allardyce!, they must play long ball"... boring and lazy.

So true... but people can say what they like as long as we keep on winning

Keep sticking it in Vince, we know what the score really is. Does it really matter what they think??
