Rovers Enter Boyd Race??

Blackburn Rovers are understood to have entered the race to possibly sign Glasgow Rangers striker Kris Boyd in the summer.

Boyd is out of contract with Rangers at the end of the season and newspaper reports say that Sam Allardyce (fresh from glowing reports) sent his assistant manager Neil McDonald to Hampden Park on Wednesday evening to have a look at the Scottish Premier League's record goalscorer as he ended his sixteen-month International exile. However, Boyd started the match on the substitutes bench as Scotland beat Czech Republic 1-0.

Rovers would face competition from plenty of Premier League sides if Boyd doesn't agree a new contract to stay at Ibrox, however, staying with the Scottish Giants is understood to be something that he would prefer but the striker is holding out on a new £18,000 per week contract (so Boyd doesn't leave on a FREE transfer) until he knows the long-term ambition of Rangers.

Aston Villa were understood to be interested, however, this is something that they denied. Personally on a FREE Transfer (even though it's a lot easier to score in the Scottish Premier League than the English Leagues) I'd be more than happy to see Boyd arrive at Ewood Park, however, with Villa's Midland rivals Birmingham City having a long-term interest and with his former Rangers manager Alex McLeish being in charge at St Andrews that might give them the edge over Rovers (and others) if Boyd does move on??

For free and for lowish wages for the Premier League, I can see the blackburn board being fine with if Sam wants to go down this road!

It makes sense, but we'll face tough competition, Personally, i don't see it going through

I cant see how we will beat McLeish to his signing to be honest

Or is it with Souness, we don't even stand a chance? haha

He'll stay with Glasgow Rangers or go to Birmingham City won't he??
