MGP in Rovers talks

Rovers midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen has opened talks with Blackburn about a new deal at the club with his current contract only having a few months left to run on it.

Morten has been fairly poor in the last few seasons but his form since the turn of the year has been much better.

Sam Allardyce is a fan of the players and is keen to see of interest from Fenerbache and tie down another of Rovers stars... especially as we could then lose Morten for nothing in the summer.

Allardyce, speaking to Sky Sports said - 'Morten has a deal on the table and his representatives will be over, no doubt, to finalise that deal with the chairman in the next few days or weeks,'

'We certainly hope he does agree terms and signs on for the next few years.'

Big Sam also explained his delight at the contract signing yesterday of startlet Junior Hoilett, after an epic negotiation lasting several months.

Allardyce continued - 'It is one of the hardest and longest negotiations I have experienced but finally we have persuaded Junior that Blackburn is the place for him.

'We're really looking forward to his future at Blackburn and hopefully seeing him develop into a fine player.'

MGP has been playing well recently - hopefully he is playing for that new contract and will keep going after he gets it.
