Allardyce Backs Grella To Come Good.....

In what was mooted as a hot signing in the summer of 2008, 4 million pound Australian Vince Grella has made just 32 appearances for the blue and white halves after battling with several niggling injuries. Whilst he has managed to show at times what he is capable of, VBERS, a couple in particular, have grown frustrated at his inconsistency and injury proneness.

However, Sam Allardyce has come out and backed the bulldozing midfielder to come the goods. Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph,

'I think this year Vince Grella has been unlucky. Last year it was a case of finding out the Premier League is far tougher and far more demanding than anything he has ever experienced in his life'

Vince was plying his trade in the Seria A for several seasons, and traded in the technical side of football for the more physical approach by coming to England, something which really should have suited his style of football, but luck has not been in his favour!!!

'The last one was very unlucky though. It was the last minute, he went for a volley, missed the volley and pulled a thigh muscle. He has shown some signs of producing his best form for us.'

Fingers crossed that Grella can finish the season off strong, and build up for the World Cup!!!

I like him. When he is on the pitch he has looked the business but he hasnt done it regularly enough... here is hoping that Sam is right.

5 at last count... maybe we will ease him in this time? when he came on as a sub at first against Bolton he looked good as he and the Zonz shared the workload. Lets hope that finally, FINALLY somet can happen that is good with this clearly very talented guy.
