Grella bigs up the Basturk

Grella bigs up the Basturk

Vince Grella has backed Yildiray Basturk to be one of the star players in Rovers fixture run in and impressed with what the Turk has shown so far.

Grella himself is back in contention for first team duty and Basturk is near full fitness so both are in contention for Bolton at home on Sunday.

But Grella has seen enough of the new boy to suggest he can have a tremendous impact.

Grella, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said - "Basturk is a senior pro who has got international experience and has played in the Bundesliga for 10 years.

"He`s been one of the main players in Turkey`s team for the past 10 years, so I don`t have to present Basturk to anyone.

"But I enjoy playing with him. He`s got great vision, great awareness and great passing.

"I think he could give us something new and something different in our formation.

"Can he be a star player for us? You took the words out of my mouth.

"I think he`s got everything to be a star player at Blackburn.

"He`s something different that we don`t have and I think the manager knows that.

"That`s why he signed him."

The players and staff are building him up a treat here!

Everyone's building up The Inglorious Basturk. Let's hope he lives up to all these comments and we will have one hell of a player on our hands.

Initial sounds are all good - but these things do have a habit of coming back to bite you on your ass sometimes!!!

he does sound good, but knowing our luck he will come on and be injured for 3 months in his first game.

If Grella and Basturk both step up, we could suddenly have loads of depth in midfield.....

did anybody actually go to the reserve games where they played together? wondering what the grella/basturk pairing looks like. nice words from vince, though. or maybe he has realized he enjoys getting a paycheck every week for not doing anything, so he wants to make sure basturk gets called up before him!

You better worry about yourself first, Vince "Mr Injury" Grella. How many games did you play this season?

Personally I think that the dude will do well for us but I'm a little worried about expecting too much.

Cautious Walker?! well I never!!! lol...I think the problem with Vicne is that he pulls us during a lot of these starts and he does seem to come out with the imoortal "right I am finally back and injury free" before pulling up again!!!
