Allardyce feels no need to hit the panic button

He who is large and manages Blackburn has come out to address the fans after a disappointing last day trying to sign a striker to bolster the ranks.

Most Blackburn fans were a bit gutted that a new man was not bought in to supplement the strikers that we already have here... and Maceo Rigters.

But Sam has said that despite the effort made, he is content with the riff raff we have on the playing staff after the sole purchase of Yilidray Basturk.

Big Sam, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said - "You never want to be in a panic situation because it is then you make the worst selections and the worst choices. We were not in a panic.

"I am very comfortable with the squad, we are improving, we have put ourselves in a reasonable position in the league but we have to go further than that and continue to pick the points up.

"If no other player came our way, I was very content with the squad we have got."

I am pretty sure the Big Man is putting on something of a brave face as I feel he wanted one more but we do have the players to stay safe in this division.

I am starting to cool down after being a bit miffed at the lack of buying on the last day, I can see what Sam is saying but it is pretty clear what formation he has in mind!!!

We havent got a bad squad to be fair, if Basturk turns out as good as Dunn im sure no one will have any complaints about the lack of strikers....and Im still glad we didnt sign Dindane

I agree, rather have no-one than the ones we were linked with

Benjani & Dindane would had been poor signings for us, while Beattie i would only consider him as a replacement for Jason Roberts(if he was sold to Wolves), but not McCarthy.

We couldnt really have signed anyone to replace Benni in Jan and with £2 million so we are best sitting tight and rolling with what we have...

I don't understand the mass hysteria regarding the PL transfer window. If one's team is about to fight a relegation battle then a couple million pounds is a good investment. If one's team is fighting for a spot in europe or the PL title then a valuable player in or out makes sense. For teams like Blackburn, Fulham, Stoke, Everton and Birmingham it makes less sense to chase players since it won't likely result in a big change their place in the table
