The Day of Reckoning

Today is the day to see who we get to replace the departed Benni McCarthy, if anybody.

West Ham have claimed that the deal is done for the stroppy South African so thoughts have turned to an incoming striker/attacking midfielder.

Beattie, Dindane, Benjani and several foreign names have been linked with a move into Ewood Park on the final day of this rather tame tranfer window.

So strap yourself in as we are about to find out the answers to a lot of questions that have been asked over the last month.

As usual here on VB, Bom Bom is you man with the inside gossip...

will be interresting to see what goes down today.... any thoughts?

Whilst none of the above 3 strikers excite me I have to be realistic and if we are in for those 3 I'd probably take Beattie because of him being a local lad and he scored goals in the prem last season to help Stoke stay in the prem so he can still do it. Dindane doesn't convince me and whilst Benjani will prbably be the one we get he is so hit or miss he won't provide the consistency we need. I'd love it if he could prove me wrong and bag a load of goals if he came but I just don't see it.

id take dindane, though imagine the benni deal does not go through!

That would be a nightmare. Wasted wages for him to moan for the rest of the season. I doubt he'd ever get into the squad again after the way he's gone about his move. Either that or he may actually realise if he wants to play for his country he needs to meet the same requirements all the other players at Blackburn Rovers do. In all honesty though, he needs to go.

Benni's gone to W'Ham now, posted on official site. Glad the ordeal is over!

dindane is having a medical at brockhall now.. and rumours we are still in talks with Benjani as a back up
rover23
Dindane first choice, Benjani second as far as I have been told...
Mikey Delap
The Dindane deal has apparently fallen through due to insuffcient time, also look out for Benjani being unveiled at the Stadium Of Light..

What an epic fail of a day in the end!!!
Mikey Delap
Basically... big sam had 4 weeks to get the deal done.... but left it until an hour before the deadine... and then the 2 clubs couldnt reach a fee...
rover23
TBF though, he couldnt commit until that work permit was certain though!!! Imagine if we had sorted that out and then Benni had to come back as well. But a little bit of forward planning wouldnt hurt!!!
Mikey Delap
This has to be the worst transfer window (overall) ever!!
