Zurab joins Royals on loan

Reading have signed Blackburn Rovers defender and wonderfully named Zurab Khizanishvili until the end of the season.

Zurab has struggled to see some Rovers first team action so Rovers have decided to lighten the wage bill by giving the Royals some much needed versatility at the back.

Zurab has been on loan to Newcastle this season but Reading have come in quickly to add him to their squad.

Good news for Zurab who I feel is underrated by Sam Allardyce.

Good to see Zurab getting some love! And it saves us 20k a month off the wage bill too!!

Good luck to the Monk who I personally feel will do very well for Reading.

I think we should be looking to sell players like zurab whilst in contract that risk losing them for free later dwn the line. He is already an established player and loaning him out dnt male sense cos he dnt need experience, he needs games at rovers or selling to release more transfer funds

I agree with Glen. I'm sure he's a nice guy but as for the pecking order I think the central defenders are Nelson, Samba, Givet and then Phil Jones. We should sell Zura while we can get something for him. Good luck to the lad. By all accounts he's an agreeable fellow.

Always felt it was a pity that Zurab didn't fit in - whenever I saw him, he seemed to be a good honest player but maybe not for Rovers defence. Good luck to him. I suspect that the loan deal is perhaps due to the lack of offers for a permanent transfer?
