Rovers transfer gossip round up

For a club that aren't supposed to be doing loads of business this window the gossip is certainly flowing.

Not that I don't believe what I am being told but just saying, thats all!

First off, Everton are now in for Benni McCarthy. The Toffees like ourselves are a bit frigged for money but are exploring a way of completing a £2.5 million deal.

Remember that £2.5 million figure, it will come in handy later...

Next up, it appears that Morten Gamst Pedersen has become a target for Matt Derbyshire's Olympiakos. It has even gone as far as the Greek side making an enquiry for the winger.

Rovers would sell for £2 millon with only 6 months left on his deal, but the Norwegian is apparently not too keen - but with his options running thin, he might need to bail.

On the inbound, the rumours have surfaced again that Blackburn have asked Stoke about James Beattie.

£2.5 million (see I told you) is the figure needed to prize James away from the Britannia - and if we can acquire him then Benni could be on his way.

So it all ties in together you see!

Not bad shouts at all today, am I right in saying we would all jump at the chance to grab £2 million for MGP?
Mikey Delap
jep if we then sign hoilet, then I'm on....cheers
riisenholt
lol darn that 3 mill for andrews from fulham is looking like gold now
sasman
I'm not being funny, but all of a sudden, gamst has picked up his performances a bit? that always happens though, when hes trying to move... id say £2.5 million, because u never know, a move could bring out the best in him! Benny for 2.5 million... NOO! he is worth 5m at least! and what about this Beattie for Roberts swap deal?
rover23
Benni is worth a hell of a lot more than that! id be dissapointed to get less than 5m for him
LHrover
Why on earth would David Moyes think that McCarthy would be the answer to his prayers.
Nellup
McCarthys age will count against him though - no-one is mad enough to pay £5 million for tempremental, attitude conscious, 32 year old striker, no matter how good he is!!!
Mikey Delap
I don't care what happens as long as we get a couple of strikers that know where the net is!! I have always, like most people, big fans of Benni and Jase but you have to admit that Benni has not been consistent enough to warrant a regular start and Roberts simply does not score enough. It gets to the point where if we can get a good amount of cash (2.5 each would suffice), we move on and try someone else up-front. I think Beattie would be excellent, but we could do with another.
Wellsy10
Beattie will get goals but not a lot else... like Benni used to be Beattie would come without the flair! I would settle for that!
Mikey Delap
Jason Roberts off for 2.5M, i would settle for that. He came here for 3M, and i remembered the Wigan fans commented that that was a great piece of business, absolutely delighted to see the back of him at Wigan and 3M in the pocket. Come on, bring in Beattie!
metalrover
I don't think they were metal, they loved him over there! hence the reception he got on boxing day!
rover23
He has a good standing with Wigan as far as I know... but there were a few that had a go when he left as he had died down in terms of performances come the end of his tenure there...
Mikey Delap
he did well at wigan, i thought we got him on the cheap!
LHrover
It wasnt a bad buy and for £2.5 million he was worth it I would say. He does strike up a good partnership with Benni.
Mikey Delap
Nah, don't be fooled by the reception he got there. JR did well at wigan, but they jolly well knew JR can never be a prolific goalscorer. Once he asked for out, paul jewell was more than glad to let him go. They were delighted with the 3M fee we paid them. JR had some good days for wigan, but they will never want him back again. Just like Jon Stead, for Rovers.
metalrover
You have a choice- McCarthy or Beattie... who would you rather see in your team? I'd take Benni Mac any day
retroflair31
Were after sum south korean youth and a winger called olivier thomert aswell as fulham! itll be intresting how this transfer window pans out! ideally id say we need someone who will be breath of fresh air to the team! and show the rest how it is done if they put their feeble minds to it! a pacey left mid and 2 prolific goalscorers! why dont we go get sum bargains from italian 2nd division or even the portuguese third seeing as we dotn have much to spend! oh and a defender to nelsen on his toes! as hes been lapsing recently!
