Stupid Snow means Carling Semi is off

The Rovers v Villa Carling Cup tie that was due to take place tonight has been officially postponed.

Heavy snow in the North West of England and in the Midlands has meant that common sense has had to prevail as the conditions around the ground were an absolute nightmare.

The pitch itself is playable but the fans safety is of first concern and that is fair enough.

What a disappointment...

Not good at all and there will be a lot of disappointed people but it is for the best, although it might not seem like it now!!

better safe than sorry I suppose. Damn, have to pay for a mini bus now that will be going nowhere! lol
The Fear
Nevermind! we have more time to get our players back to full fitness!
rover23
thats unfair :( you will get your injurd players back and diuof?
Tr1dent
Pity but at least they made a decision early - as it happens I'm snowed in for the first time in years so I doubt that I had any realistic hope of crossing the pennines tonight! Here's looking forward to the rearranged fixture - hope it upsets Villa preparations more than Rovers!
YORK ROVER
PS. Any hope that the rearranged fixture will be after the trip to Villa Park? I quite fancy our chances if the 'second leg' is at Ewood!!!
YORK ROVER
york rover, u from york? :)
Tr1dent
Tr1dent I think its fair to say none of us want Diouf back and that if he plays he will pose more threat to us than to Villa. Anyway I think Thursday the 14th has been set aside as the date for the fixture. The second leg is on the 20th I think
durks
guys i read somewhere that this game must be played before the villa game, regardless, and it takes precedent over EPL games......pick a date and away we go......also, this sort of thing never happens in Sydney :D
sasman
gutted, but at least we can go sledging of the hill behind ewood :D.
LHrover
sasman, couldn't we just move the game to sydney?...cheers
riisenholt
This game will take place before the Villa park, Diouf will Not be back, Infact he shouldnt play against villa for a while,. His to dirty and his only init for the money, Thats of a statement he made before aswell :)
Blitz
If Sas can't host the cup tie in Sydney, I can host in Los Angeles. It's 75 (23C) and sunny. At least 3 people can sleep on my couch. It's pretty big.
SoCal Rover
And I would rather that Emo and Grella and Dunn had the extra week to heal up instead of pushing it in cold weather
SoCal Rover
It's a shame as I was looking forward to this one - it was going to be (and still will be ) a very tough encounter, especially over two legs. The thing I'm more annoyed about though, is the fact that we played a weakened time on Saturday in preparation for today! Still having it played in LA or Sydney would more than make up for it - I bagsey SoCal's couch!
FreidelNo.1
ruined my evening - no live footy!
merlin
it's -20c with the wind chill here.
the shire
home leg in sydney, away in LA.....woohoo
sasman
Rovers go on tour I see!!!! ;) Maybe this could be a good thing as emo and Dunny can get some match fitness in them...
Mikey Delap
stoke v fulham was still on merlin! :P aye we could just have the game in ANZ Sas. or in the home depot centre SoCal
LHrover
ANZ! worst ground in the world.....its an 80000 seater and ur like a mile from the pitch! Id take us to Kogarah Oval.....home of my National Rugby League team, St George Dragons......A Big hill on 1 side of the pitch, seating over the rest, a nice 20k seater :D
sasman
Plus we might be able to fill it for a change!!! lol
Mikey Delap
Damn, was looking forward to some good footy! Both the matches were top draw.
JT_daniel
It is a good line up for the semis... well the club from manchester and the club from Salford apart anyway ;)
