Van Nistelrooy Linked With Rovers Again

Blackburn Rovers were interested in signing Ruud Van Nistelrooy last summer and we're understood to be in the pack again looking at him in January.

Sam Allardyce admitted that the Dutch International was a player that he'd targeted but also admitted that Van Nistelrooy's wage demands would be beyond Rovers, however, this hasn't stopped the newspapers (the Sun) from saying that the striker could be Ewood Park bound in January with Rovers understood to be the new frontrunners.

The former Manchester United striker is expected to return to the Premier League in January and is also understood to have attracted attention from Arsenal and Liverpool with Birmingham City, Fulham and Sunderland also believed to be rivalling Rovers for Van Nistelrooy??

Personally I think that Van Nistelrooy would be a superb signing for Rovers and his quality would rub off on the likes of Nikola Kalinic and Franco Di Santo (if we keep him) to make them better players, however, I still see the costs involved as being the stumbling block and can't see how this would be any different from last summer, which means the Dutchman is still out of reach!!

Personally I still think he'd be a superb signing, however, I can't see what would've changed from the summer to make this a deal that we could financially do??

he'd be a fantastic signing, not just on the pitch but off it too. shirt sales, attendences etc. his wages would be high, but maybe the money we get might make up for a part of it

He'd be a good loan signing - or free transfer, due to wages. But I wouldn't want to pay a fee, as he's older and suseptable to injuries.

unreal signing if it happens!

Tho his wage demands would be quite high.. the reason we did'nt make an effort to sign him in the Summer was because he was injured. This would be an amazing signing.. I'm all for it whatever the cost. We're talking about a world class finisher here.. he could make all the difference in terms of where we finish this season.

they say history repeats itself....we signed another former manchester utd goal scorer shortly before we won the worthington cup :)

What are his wage demands? We could loan out Salgado and top it up a little if thats what it takes...

He is one of the rare examples where higher wages will be worth paying as the extra money he would bring in would cover that. The wages he is being paid now would be sky high for us but maybe he would take a big cut to play more?
