Samba Commits Until 2014!!

Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba has ended any speculation that his future might lie away from Ewood Park by signing a new contract.

Rovers chairman John Williams confirmed today that Samba has signed a contract extension that will take the 25-year-old through to 2014.

Williams told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "I am delighted that we have been able to secure Chris on a new long-term deal, which is an important deal for the club.

"It has been richly deserved through his performances over the past few seasons, particularly during the last campaign when he demonstrated a tremendous attitude when playing in an unfamiliar role as a striker.
"

The Wall has become a cult figure at Ewood since his arrival from Hertha Berlin for a bargain amount of £400,000 (which soon increased to ten times that amount!!) in January 2007 and after putting pen to paper on this new deal we'll be able to enjoy his services for a long whole to come. Even if others clubs continue to show an interest in the years ahead this extension would be sure to add several more million to his asking price.

Would we really be giving him that much?? I'm very happy we've tied him down to a longer-term contract. I don't want us to sell him, however, if others come sniffing around now we are in a stronger position for doing this.
