Phil Jones gets England call-up

Blackburn Rovers centre back Phil Jones has backed up a promising start to his Rovers career with a first call-up to the England U19 squad.

The 17-year-old has been drafted into Noel Blake's side for their friendly match against Turkey in the luxury location of Scunthorpe.

Jones has only just plonked up on the radar for Blackburn but has put in two great shows at centre back in the Carling Cup, first at Forest and then at home to Peterborough. So to say this call up is deserved would be an understatement.

Expect this boy to go far.

good to see, he plays very well alongside Ryan Nelsen. All he needs is an experienced head alongside him!
