McCarthy Again Voices His Desire To Leave

McCarthy Again Voices His Desire To Leave

Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy has once again voiced his desire to leave Rovers in January.

The 31-year-old's agent started speculation about the strikers Rovers future last week and this has only been fuelled by what Rovers manager Sam Allardyce, McCarthy himself and his South African International (and former Rovers midfielder) team-mate Aaron Mokoena have since said, all of which point to an exit from Ewood Park in the January Transfer window. McCarthy has again spelled this out talking ahead of his return to International football.

McCarthy told reporters in Johannesburg: "In my opinion I am better than what we have at Rovers, but unfortunately the manager prefers a different style of player.

"I am not the type of player he wants and that is why I am not playing.
"

Personally I would like to see Benni more involved for Rovers, however, he's right he isn't a player that suits Allardyce and his continued outburst aren't going to help him!! Benni has also confirmed that he'd been happy to move to Premier League strugglers Portsmouth who are understood to be interested in signing him (along with others).

He added: "Portsmouth are going through a bad patch but are still a top side.

"I have discussed them with (South Africa captain) Aaron Mokoena and at this stage it is still a rumour.

"There are other clubs in England and Europe that have shown interest in me.
"

You're helping to talk your way further out of Big Sam's thoughts Benni, however, you also have to remember that Rovers will only sell you if it's in our best interests and not yours!!

To be honest.. what would we rather see guys? McCarthy.. touch of class.. skillfull and he best finisher in our squad... or a big sam style player in someone like Heskey or Kevin Davies... I think we do need to stay in touch with what football is about.. its an entertainment business... and we pay to be entertained.. and benni provides that.. i dont care if big sam is best mates with him or not.. hes is techniqually one of our best... so keep him on the field...

It was the same last season when he wasn't playing - he always promises much but he needs to fight for his place this season - if he is in form to bang in 20 goals ths season then he would be playing wouldn't he? Nice touch on Saturday - if we see some more of that form and Benni gets onto the pitch more then all this speculation about leaving will dissappear.

This is Benni talking but the trick here is that if he now plays between now and xmas then he will declare his love for the club again! He just wants games - if he gets them here he will stay.

I think its too late, Benni wants out, and who can blame him??? fair play to the lad cos at thi stage of his career he needs to be playing, Benni also needs to feelo loved and wanted, and how he has been treated at rovers in last couple of seasons is discusting. I think only shearer had a better scoring record for rovers in the premiership than benni, and once again we have dropped a blooper

We need Benni Mac. He looks fitter this year and we don't have anyone else with his quality. To sell him in January, when we are losing Di Santo and don't have a proven goal scorer, would be criminal (espcially for the 3.5 mil that has been talked about).

Benni makes it pretty clear he wants to go, Big Sam doesn't seem to be that worried about stopping him. This will prove a mistake but there isn't a lot we can do is there!?

It appears not... it will prob take a heart to heart between Benni and Sam now to stop this.
