'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Big Sams' warning for Posh

Big Sam has extinguished fears of damage limitation ahead of tonights Carling Cup game against Peterborough - saying Rovers are in it to win it.

Allardyce will inpsire the team with his memories of getting to Wembley, something Rovers are only three rounds away from reaching themselves. The incentive is most definitely there.

Allardyce seaking to rovers.co.uk said - 'From day one we are only six matches from Wembley which is an incentive in itself. It's also the quickest route to European competition.

'I managed to get to the final once with Bolton and it was one of the most delightful experiences I have ever had. When your at a club like that with limited resources, reaching a final has to be savoured by the players, the manager and the backroom staff.

'Other clubs reach these finals so often they treat it nonchalantly, but in our case we remember a visit for the rest of our lives so it was just a shame we lost the final.

'It was still a fantastic ride though as it was when Bolton reached one of the last FA Cup semi-finals to be played at Wembley. That ended in bitter disappointment though as we lost on penalties.

'But it's those sort of experiences which leave you wanting more which is why this competition is massively important for us.

'We have chosen to make changes to the side in other rounds and things have worked out well. Steven Nzonzi burst onto the scene in an earlier round, but we might be forced into a few changes tonight.

'Whatever 11 I put out tonight will include plenty of quality and experience.'

To boost the morale as well, news has reached us that David Dunn is alive and well and is in the squad for tonight.

Expect him to start barring any last minute emergencies. However there will be plenty of changes as first team shirts are up for grabs!

should be a good game - hope we can make it through! Massive boost with Dunny about!

I think we should win it but it wont be pretty and will be anything other than an easy game. If i was to play Dunn id get him on from the start to make an impact rather than late on if the games getting stale.wouldnt expect him to be playing a full 90mins. COME ON ROVERS!!!
mutts nutts
i would rather we play withe dunn (glad hes back) in the midfield role and rovers go out with 2 strikers so benni and someone else can get a start like kalinic or even junior
aadil4rovers
I'm with aadil. Let's see Kalinic and Benni up front and Hoillet, Dunn, Nzonzi and Emo in the midfield. I want to see some offense and some players who are hungry to prove themselves.
SoCal Rover
exactly socal put players who have something to prove and maybe they can go on to do it. We need players that have that hunger in them and will take every oppertunity they can get. Id also like to see van heerden with a half time or substitute appearance on one of the wings
aadil4rovers
Maybe get Phil Jones involved again like he did v Forest?

1-1 as we speak - why can't it be on the TV instead of Man United?

5-2 Result GET IN!

the best carling cup games are always not on TV! They seemed more bothered with showing Man U/Liverpool reserves than showing the proper games that might cause an upset such as Blackburn/Posh. Even the Spurs/Everton game would have been better than Barnsley/bleedin Man U.
