Rovers Lining Up O'Neil??

Blackburn Rovers are understood to be lining up an January transfer swoop for Middlesbrough's Gary O'Neil.

The midfielder remained with Middlesbrough despite their relegation from the Premier League last season, however, his performances in the Championship are understood to have caught the eye of Sam Allardyce and several other Premier League managers, all of whom are planning to make a move for the 26-year-old when the transfer window opens??

Skysports.com reports that we'd face competition from Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Sunderland and Wigan Athletic for the former Portsmouth and England Under-21 International who would cost around £4 million.

O'Neil has always looked a good footballer when I've seen him but I don't personally think that we need another midfielder do we??

Meanwhile Skysports.com is also linking us with Standard Liege striker Dieumerci M'Bokani.

The Congo International has a mightily impressive goalscoring record for Liege (32 goals in 62 matches) and is understood to be interested in a move to the Premier League in January with Arsenal and Liverpool also understood to be monitoring the 23-year-olds progress.

Is anyone tipped to be leaving our squad? Di Santo being the most likely, I can see Benni off to greener pastures too. Could we really afford to bring in players without sending some out too?

Prob just paper talk but he IS a good player for my money! Wouldnt be against him coming here but do we not need to ship him out before bringing someone in to the already cluttered midfield!?
Mikey Delap
Ive heard a whisper about Geovani Dos Santos from spurs.. not sure though? probs just bull..

That M'bokani didnt look too good when he played against Arsenal recently but I havent seen much of O'neil to comment on him but Sam has been mostly successful in the transfer market so far.

Personally I really can't see why we'd need O'Neil?? I know he's not a bad footballer but we have enough midfielders as it is even if we did get rid of one or two that aren't really needed. I'd agree it's probably just paper talk anyway. The other dude, never seen him play I don't think, not even heard of him!!
Walker
Dos Santos from Spurs? Hes tiny isnt he? He would be like Villanueva!
Mikey Delap
I'd not heard the Dos Santos rumours. I'd think (as you point out Mr Mikey) he's to lightweight isn't he?? Like Carlos he has plenty of skill and ability but that's not always enough is it.
Walker
More paper talk - all clubs are looking at available players all the time but it doesn't mean anything. A quality midfielder that could control games and stand upto the likes of Chelsea, Utd etc would be a good signing - but they don't come cheap! There's not much point in just bringing in another midfielder for the sake of it.

More interested in this striker. when Di Santo goes, what are we going to do? Benni's fat, Roberts can't finish and Kalinic hasn't come along yet...
