Big Sams' midweek dash to keep Junior

Big Sams' midweek dash to keep Junior

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has made a impromptu trip to Canada in a bid to secure the long term future of Junior Hoilett.

Allardyce has, in various media sources and as reported on the forum by Vital Blackburns' Rover 23, taken a couple of days out of his schedule to talk to the speedy winger/forwards' Dad in a bid to keep him at Rovers in the long run.

Hoilett, who is only 19 is being eyed by German clubs and some Premier League clubs as well as they can get hold of him on a pre-contract in January, something Sam wants to desperately avoid.

Talented wide man Hoilett has been at Ewood for years but was granted a special work permit to get him playing in England after two loans spells at St.Pauli in Germany (hence the German clubs link) and years of trying to get him in a Rovers shirt.

In my opinion Sam is doing the right thing here. Every time Junior has been on the pitch this term he has the look of someone that will excite and will get fans talking for the right reasons.

We would be mad not to hold onto Junior, as he is well known to be the best prospect Rovers have had on their youth team books since Dave Dunn/Damien Duff.

The sooner the man above is tied down to an extended deal, the better.

Would be a big loss if he was to go... but I still feel he should have some loyalty as it was the club that invested so much time and effort in him!

He made big waves in Germany even though he was just playing in the Bundesliga 2. We really need to keep hold of this guy cos he has a big future.

It would come down to loyalty, if the dude decides to move on then he would've shown none to a club that battled and battled to keep him!!

Huge loss to the club if they let junior slip away, Sam knows what hes doin at least so should be a good outcome.

Yeah Big Sam will do his best so it'll boil down to how much Junior want's it, which hopefully he does and his head isn't turned by a return to Germany or maybe another Premier League side offering more money??

Surely we should've tied him down the minute we got the work permit for him?

We'll lose him eventually but I would have thought that there would have been a clause in the agreement with him / his family that Rovers get first refusal on his services - he seemed keen to join us so I hope he'll want to break into the first team and prove himself in the Premier League.

I would've thought we wouldn't have gone through all the effort to get him a work permit if Sam didn't believe he could cut it.

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
